Cathedrals and churches play a prominent role in the city'scape of Parintins, reflective of the importance of faith in the citizens' lives. The scale is appropriate to a central Amazon River town of only 50,000—much smaller than the nearby state capital of Manaus. Parintins is located in the river itself, on an island of the same name.
Attractions
There is no road to Parintins. It is accessible either by river or by air. Here they celebrate the famous Boi Bumba Festival, similar to Rio´s Carnival. Local factions vie to produce the most fabulous costumes, dancing and songs.Currency
